About me...
I have lived for most my life in the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia on Noongar boodjar. Growing up in the Avon Valley, and then living in Kellerberrin as an adult, has given me a deep appreciation of this beautiful part of the world. A life on the land has taught me about the importance of preserving its unique natural resources, and the necessity of supporting First Nations culture and knowledge for the future wellbeing of our regions.
My childhood was spent alongside rural women who had to feed large families and workers, day in and day out. They were the original no-waste warriors who could provide wonderful food from the basics and from what was outside their backdoor. From an early age I knew that I wanted to work with food - but more importantly with people that had passion for it - so when I was in my early 20's I backpacked to the UK and enrolled in a Cordon Bleu college.

Returning to Perth I worked for for a high-end catering company, as well as continuing to work in corporate administrative roles. When I married and moved to my husband's family farm in South Kellerberrin I worked part-time in the local Wesfarmers agency and I also started my own catering business. This enabled me to eventually open my own cafe in Kellerberrin with the gourmet offerings that I felt was lacking in my region. It was an overnight success and it kept me extremely busy (but happy) for 15 years until I sold it in 2022.

A few years ago I felt I needed to spread my wings beyond the daily grind of a food retail business. I returned to my neglected love of writing by enrolling in a BA of Professional Writing and Publishing and Digital Communications through Curtin University. Completing this amazingly relevant and comprehensive degree has opened a whole new world for me and I look forward to providing my skills in Social Media and Digital Content, as well as Professional Writing and Communications, to promote this unique and wonderful part of Western Australia.
